Purchase of a permanent residence
With the receipt of new donations we are very pleased to let you know that the loan to purchase the Pacific Hermitage property has been paid in full!
We have been very moved to see such tremendous generosity arise in our community, and to secure a home for our sangha here in the Pacific Northwest. Thank you to the hundreds of supporters that have helped make this happen.
Annual operating budget
The yearly budget for the hermitage is about $29,000. This very lean budget includes costs for health insurance and medical costs, facilities insurance & maintenance, property development costs and utilities. Here is a breakdown of our current budget:
| Health Insurance & Medical Costs | $11,428 |
| Facilities Maintenance | $6,652 |
| Property Development | $6,000 |
| Utilities | $1,690 |
| Administrative Expenses | $2,010 |
| Monastic Travel | $1,260 |
| Total | $29,040 |
How are we doing?
It is gratifying to see the great support given to the monastics on alms rounds and for meal offerings. There have been many workdays when the community has generously offered time and energy to help with projects and maintenance on the hermitage property.
One of the primary challenges has been receiving sufficient monetary dana to meet monthly expenses. Reoccurring monthly donations provide a basis for planning support for the Pacific Hermitage monastics. If you are interested in providing a monthly support see Bill Pay services.
In 2012, donations were greater than the Hermitage operating expenses for the first time. Your generosity contributed to paying off the loan for the property ahead of schedule!
Ways to participate
Your generosity of time and skill is key to maintaining a long-term monastic presence. Monetary dana is also helpful and necessary. If you'd like to make a donation, please visit the home page.
